Odin's Original — Sea Salt | Beef Tallow Chips (6-Pack)

Delicious. Plain is the best one.

I understand that the main attractions of these chips includes that they're seed oil free, gluten free and fried in beef tallow. When it comes to snacks my focus is on enjoyment. These chips are lightly salted, crunchy and tasty, but no more so than other quality chips. If the lack of seed oils is important to you then these tasty chips may well be worth the increased cost.

I had a decent bout of indigestion after eating these. I enjoyed them as a snack one evening, and a couple hours later was still burping up their distinctive taste. The chips arrived packaged nicely and seemed to be fresh. They are crisp and crunchy the way I like chips, and I thought the salt was perfectly proportioned. The tallow definitely gives them a deeper flavor than chips fried in vegetable oil. Not offensive, but definitely more "animally." It sort of reminded me of chicharrones.I think if your body tolerates these they woukd be great. They aren't for me, but they seem to be high quality and the packaging is awesome!

These chips are great, they taste good and come in a good sized bag for sharing. Pulled these out at a party and everyone loved them and wanted to know where to get, I highly recommend!

I was looking for a new gluten free chip and found these "Beef Tallow Kettle Chips – Seed Oil Free, Gluten Free | Beef Tallow Potato Chips (5 Ounce (Pack of 6), Sea Salt)".I was surprised upon opening the box ( see the pictures) to find 6 large 5 oz. bags of chips. It did not take but a few minutes to open one bag and dive in. They had a nice crispness to give each chip a crunch when eating. They were not oily. The thickness ( see the picture) was fairly normal for most specialty chips. Being Gluten Free and seed oil free was big plus.But, after eating a few of the chips I started to think maybe I just had regular chips and not the Sea Salt ones I had ordered. So, then I looked back at the front of the bag ( see the picture) and they were Sea Salt chips. I was expecting a little more salt taste , but didn't taste any salt. That was the reason for the 4/5 .The price might be a little high for the lack of taste. I should have gotten the variety pack to give a better review of the variety of chips offered.

I LOVE these chips! Full disclosure the tallow flavor might be a bit much for some, I have friends that have a couple and stop... but personally I really like them. You just need to look at the ingredients to see these are the real deal: Potatoes, Beef Tallow, Salt... Nothing else! Really clean eating even if they're junk food :)The price is a bit rich - so you are spending more for a premium product, but I think the ingredients and quality speak for themselves. I enjoy the crunchiness and clean, salty flavor. The bulk buy box (6 pack) is also great because it protects them from getting crushed in shipping.I'd recommend these if you want a legit, high quality chip or are not price sensitive. I do think they're worth trying at least one for everyone but maybe not part of the regular shopping given the price!

I got these chips to try out and see if being cooked in beef tallow really made that big of a difference. While the flavor is somewhat subtle, I can definitely taste a hint of that beefy goodness and for me it added a nice depth of flavor that you don't get in most plain salted chips. I personally would prefer a little more salt but I can always add some at home whereas too much can't be taken away. I suppose that is better for anyone who is more concerned with their sodium intake. I have no problem with seed oils but take delight in knowing that there is an alternative for those who are and if I ever become so then I will know where to get my chip fix. These have a slightly firmer crunch than some of the brands you might find in a grocery store but I personally enjoy that and I feel they also have a more natural potato flavor and overall feel noticeably less processed and non greasy. I love that these are made in small batches with quality ingredients. Some might cringe a bit at the price tag which was $49.99 when I got these but that breaks down to only about $8.33 for a bag which is not so much more that the regular price for a bag of brand name chips. Considering these are a high quality, family business produced artisan product I think that's actually a pretty solid value for what you get. I would definitely recommend these for anyone looking for a top notch, healthier alternative to the usual mass produced chip and I look forward to trying some of their other flavors.

Someone said these were the best chips they ever had, and I highly doubted it. What does that even mean?These are moist without being greasy, crisp, flavorful without additives, and plentiful per bag. They literally taste like they were fried in donut oil.They are really filling, so I'd even recommend they sell smaller bags, but these would be ideal for a French dip or some kind of beef meal. They are so good. It only has 3 ingredients, potatoes, sea salt, and tallow. Admittedly, I can barely taste the salt, it almost seems like I got some mistake bags, but they are otherwise great chips. Im leaving them in a dish for guests when I don't finish a bag

This review is for Norse Roots Beef Tallow Kettle Chips. These kettle chips are good. They are crispy and crunchy. You don't have a bunch of residue taste in your mouth after eating. They are lightly salted, not heavily salted like you find with a lot of chips. So less sodium and not a ton of fats for the single serving. That brings us to the size/cost. The bags are supposed to serve 5 people each. So 30 people are supposed to be able to eat off a single box. That's all well and fine, but these cost $50, which is why it gets 4 stars and not 5. Just don't see the value.

These are great chips, minimal ingredients, not seed oils just beef tallow. Thick and crunchy without being hard like some Kettle chips can be and just the perfect balance of salt too for my tastes, some may prefer slightly more.Yes there may be a slight beefiness to them, I suspect they just use regular beef tallow and not suet tallow which is more flavor neutral, but I quite like that anyway. The stronger flavored chips would probably cover that up as it was subtle. Nice size packs enough for 4 servings or 3 if you are greedy like me. Yes they are a bit pricier than some snack options but I would rather spend a little more and have a healthier snack less often. I would 100% buy again.

My kids absolutely love this. At 10 pm after 6 hours car ride we finally come home and I'm going to make food for the kids. What do they ask for? Norse Roots Chips! Made me laugh.

There’s good seed oil free products out there (Vandy). Unfortunately can’t say these hit the mark - texture and flavor were just bad.

Honestly, I’ve tried 4 different kinds of Tallow Plain chips and my 5yo finally said YAY to these. He absolutely loves them. The chip itself isn’t too thick AND it’s just enough salt. He doesn’t enjoy overly salted plain chips. 💯% winner for our family. My husband loves all the different flavors offered and I love nothing more than something spicy at night so your spicy ones are dead hit 🎯!!! Shipping was quicker than expected. They were packaged appropriately so I didn’t have bags of smooshed chips. Very happy with this company 👏

Chips taste great. Nice eating a snack that’s made with no seed oils.

Not too salty. Crunchy. The taste was unique. Subtle. I had them with a hot pastrami sandwich with all the good stuff from my griddle. Normally have sea salt or vinegar chips with it. These chips were the perfect combo. Those other chips overwhelmed the pastrami and I didn’t even notice. Now I do.

Strong beef flavor - needs more salt.
